In a tragic turn of events on December 1, 2023, Christy L. Roseberry, a 43-year-old Caucasian female from Vienna, West Virginia, was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The discovery was made by family members at a residence on 38th Street in Vienna, where they also found the body of 45-year-old Thomas J. Platt of Parkersburg, who had also sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Investigators quickly identified Christy's estranged husband, 46-year-old Stevie W.
Roseberry of Belpre, Ohio, as the suspect in the double homicide. It was reported that Christy had been seeking a divorce from her husband. Following the incident, law enforcement agencies in the surrounding areas were alerted to be on the lookout for Stevie Roseberry.
The search for the suspect spanned approximately 170 miles and led authorities to a Comfort Inn in Bellefontaine, Ohio. U.S. Marshals, in coordination with local law enforcement, tracked Stevie Roseberry to the hotel and attempted to serve an arrest warrant for first-degree murder in the early morning hours of the following day. As officers approached his hotel room and tried to make contact, they heard a single gunshot. Upon entering the room, they discovered that Stevie Roseberry had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The bodies of Christy Roseberry and Thomas Platt were transported to the West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.
