In the quiet setting of a Nicholas County campground, a man's life was brought to a sudden and violent end. Joseph Tanner, a 69-year-old male from Summersville, West Virginia, was at the Beaver Lake Campground in Calvin on the evening of Wednesday, September 11, 2024. It was there that authorities would find him lying on the ground, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
