Murdered

On January 1, 2023, 18-year-old Jaquez Alonzo Allen, a resident of Des Moines, Iowa, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the afternoon, following a dispute that led to gunfire in the Lower Beaver area of Des Moines.

Allen was found by police at 3720 MLK, Jr. Parkway with gunshot injuries at approximately 1:03 p.m. on the same day. Despite the efforts to save him, Allen succumbed to his injuries later that night, marking the first homicide of 2023 in Des Moines.
