Jason Currie, a 26-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, tragically lost his life on June 25, 2016, in Bedias, Texas. Currie and his friend had traveled to a property near Bedias to purchase methamphetamine from two men. An altercation broke out during the transaction, resulting in Currie being shot and killed. His friend managed to escape the scene in a truck.
The investigation into Currie's death led to the arrest of two suspects: James Daniel "Danny" Green, 42 years old, and Colton
Joe Manning, 23 years old. Green was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison in April 2019. Manning, who was actively involved in the crime and encouraged Green, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in March 2020.
The case was extensively investigated by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Ranger Service. Currie's body was discovered in a remote creek bed three weeks after he was reported missing. The discovery was made after a thorough search, and only a partial skeleton remained.
The legal proceedings brought some measure of justice to Currie's family, although the loss of their loved one remains a tragic and painful memory. The case highlighted the dangers associated with drug transactions and the severe consequences that can arise from such encounters.
