On October 2, 2016, a fatal shooting occurred in Keokuk, Iowa, resulting in the death of 29-year-old Carissa Marie Rivers. The incident happened just after midnight in an alley near a bar, where Keokuk Police received a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Carissa Rivers unresponsive, and she was subsequently taken to the Keokuk Area Hospital, where she later died. Her death was ruled a homicide.
