Fredrick 'Chuck' Charles Bevington Jr., a 66-year-old man, was shot and killed in a pre-planned act of violence. The incident unfolded in the 400 block of South Ironwood Drive, where Bevington resided and had recently become the property manager.
That Sunday afternoon, at approximately 1:17 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered Bevington with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. His alleged killer, 73-year-old William George Porter, was his next-door neighbor. After the shooting, Porter barricaded himself inside his home, leading to a standoff with law enforcement. Residents in the surrounding area were evacuated for their safety. Porter eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

He was born in Phoenix on August 1, 1957, and was a mechanic by trade. His interests included playing softball, attending car shows, and racing his GTO. William George Porter was subsequently charged with one count of first-degree murder and booked into jail with a bond set at half a million dollars.
