In the summer of 2014, the life of 30-year-old Quennel Charles Banks was tragically cut short. On the evening of August 16th, in Tempe, Arizona, a fatal encounter unfolded at an apartment complex situated near Southern Avenue and Rural Road. It was here that Banks was shot, and the incident would later be described as a case of domestic violence.
The man identified in connection with the fatal shooting was 28-year-old Richard Tyrone Johnson.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities considered Johnson to be armed and dangerous, prompting a search by the Tempe Police Department. The manhunt came to a close four days later, on August 20, 2014, when Johnson surrendered to the police.
Following his surrender, Richard Tyrone Johnson was taken into custody and subsequently arrested. He faced the grave charge of suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of Quennel Banks.
