On December 5, 2017, Gustavous Dames, a 39-year-old resident of Miami, Florida, was shot and killed in the Overtown neighborhood of Miami. The incident took place in the area of 128 NW 15th Street while Dames was out in the community. Law enforcement responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the case has not yet been resolved. Witnesses were scarce, and no immediate arrests were made in connection with his death.
