Sanchez was born in Mexico and had built a life for his family in the United States, working diligently to provide for them. His family described him as a kind, loving, and funny man who was cherished by his wife and children.
For eight years, the murder of Jose Sanchez remained a cold case, leaving his family searching for answers and justice. The Glendale Police Department had descriptions of four suspects and surveillance footage of the getaway car, but the identities of the men remained unknown. Joseph Keller was taken into custody and faced charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Keller, who had been previously incarcerated for unrelated charges, was linked to the crime scene through fingerprints found on a toilet in Sanchez's apartment. A crucial tip regarding the getaway vehicle, which belonged to Keller's then-girlfriend, led investigators to re-examine the evidence and connect him to the scene.
