In a bizarre turn of events that began with a frantic roadside discovery, the death of 66-year-old Jay Michael Freeman in Prescott, Arizona, unfolded into a tale of deceit and violence. On a Thursday in June 2018, Sharalyn Stura, a 57-year-old woman, was found in her vehicle off Interstate 17. Her hands were tied to the steering wheel, and she told a harrowing story to the Arizona Department of Public Safety officers who came to her aid.
Stura claimed that an armed assailant had abducted
her from her home and forced her to drive to the Rimrock area. She alleged that she managed to escape her captor and drove to the interstate to seek help. However, as investigators began to probe her account, inconsistencies started to emerge, casting a shadow of doubt on her dramatic tale. Under questioning, the facade of a kidnapping victim began to crumble, and Stura eventually admitted her involvement in Freeman's death.
The investigation then shifted to the Prescott home that Freeman owned. Inside, officers made a grim discovery: the body of Jay Michael Freeman. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
