In the late afternoon of February 24, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Phoenix, Arizona apartment complex. When the chaos subsided, 23-year-old Mikal Williams, a Black / African American male, was left with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 3:10 p.m. in the parking lot of a residential building near the 1500 block of West Sahuaro Drive.
According to police reports, Williams was standing in the parking lot when a silver or gray four-door sedan pulled
up nearby. An unidentified individual exited the vehicle, opened fire on Williams, and then quickly got back into the car, fleeing the scene westward on Sahuaro Drive. Williams was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
As of now, the investigation into Mikal Williams's death is ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting, and no arrests have been made. The Phoenix Police Department continues to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for this deadly shooting.
