In the late evening hours of November 25, 2019, a heated argument in the parking lot of a Phoenix, Arizona apartment complex escalated into deadly violence, claiming the life of 37-year-old Luis Sanchez Hernandez Jr. A Hispanic man, Hernandez was a chef who had attended the Arizona Culinary Institute and was remembered by loved ones as an outgoing, loving, and warm-hearted person who was a great husband and an awesome father to his six children.
The dispute, which occurred around 8:40
p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 17 and Greenway Road, also resulted in the death of 39-year-old Tommy Rodriguez. Both men were found by responding Phoenix police officers suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate medical attention provided by fire department emergency crews, both Hernandez and Rodriguez were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, law enforcement officers located a suspect in a nearby apartment. The individual, identified as 40-year-old Michael Keeton, was taken into custody in connection with the double homicide. Keeton was subsequently booked on charges of second-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons. The tragic incident left two families mourning the sudden and violent loss of their loved ones.
