In the late evening of Thursday, November 10, 2022, a dispute in Tucson, Arizona, turned fatal, ending the life of 41-year-old Tyrone Boney. A native of Tucson, Mr. Boney was known for his exuberant personality, infectious laugh, and the pride he took in his family and work as a foreman for a local tree service. He was a husband and a father, respected by his coworkers and loved by his family and friends.
That evening, Mr.
Boney, accompanied by 34-year-old Kevin Lavon Vie, went to a residence in the 1600 block of West San Ricardo Road. Their purpose was to confront a man with whom Mr. Boney was involved in a domestic relationship. When they were asked to leave the premises, the situation quickly deteriorated. A physical confrontation began, which then escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
During the chaotic altercation, both Mr. Boney and Mr. Vie were struck by bullets. Mr. Boney sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Mr. Vie, though wounded, managed to drive himself to the south campus of Banner-University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The occupant of the house, a 40-year-old man, was also involved in the confrontation and received minor injuries. He was treated at the scene and subsequently arrested. He was charged with weapons misconduct and booked into the Pima County Jail. He has since been released. The Tucson Police Department continues to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.
