In the early morning hours of November 12, 2023, a large house party near Camelback Road and 55th Avenue in west Phoenix descended into chaos and tragedy. Amidst the hundreds of people at the gathering, gunfire erupted, leaving 23-year-old Carlos Vences Jr. with life-threatening injuries. The scene was described as chaotic, with crowds of people fleeing the house in the wake of the shooting.
First responders arrived at the scene around 2:35 a.m.
to find the tumultuous aftermath of the party. They discovered Vences suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Carlos Vences Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Phoenix Police Department detectives have been actively investigating the homicide, interviewing dozens of witnesses who were present at the party. However, due to the large and chaotic nature of the event, authorities believe there are many more potential witnesses who may have crucial information about what led to the deadly shooting and the identity of the person or persons responsible. As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness to help bring closure to the case.
