Aramis Ross, a 22-year-old Black man, was fatally shot in a road rage incident in Phoenix, Arizona, on the evening of November 13, 2024. The confrontation occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue. Ross and a 19-year-old male were involved in a prolonged dispute while driving, which escalated when both vehicles came to a stop in traffic.
While stopped, the 19-year-old suspect fired a gun, striking Ross.
The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the scene and transported Ross to a local hospital. There, he was diagnosed with a non-survivable, catastrophic brain injury and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Shortly after the shooting, the 19-year-old suspect contacted law enforcement to report his involvement in the incident. He was subsequently detained by the Phoenix Police Department for questioning. Homicide investigators responded to the scene to process evidence and conduct interviews. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and upon completion, the findings will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for review.
