On the evening of October 10, 2022, the life of Anthony Hollingsworth Jr., a 34-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in Omaha, Nebraska. The Omaha Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating his death as a homicide.
At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 38th and Maple Street following a ShotSpotter alert, a system designed to detect and locate gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Hollingsworth behind a building at 3827 Maple Street. Medics from the Omaha Fire Department were called to the scene, but sadly, he was declared deceased.
Born on March 2, 1988, in Omaha, Anthony was a father and had attended North High School. He was known to have worked as a forklift operator. Those who knew him remember his ever-present smile and his knack for making people laugh. He was described as a man who stood by his word and was deeply committed to his family.
As of now, the investigation into Anthony Hollingsworth Jr.'s death is ongoing.
