Cari Allen age 43, white female, vanished from her west Omaha home on the night of November 19, 2022, after returning from a date. In the days that followed, investigators focused on her recent ex-boyfriend, 47-year-old Aldrick Scott of Topeka, Kansas. Court filings and hearings later described a pattern of stalking: prosecutors said Scott tracked Allen s location via Snapchat, drove from Topeka to Omaha, waited for her to arrive, and then fatally shot her inside her home.
A search of Scott s residence in Topeka occurred on November 21, and by early December investigators were publicly treating him as the primary suspect.
Scott fled the country during the investigation. On December 6 7, 2022, authorities located and arrested him in Belize; he was flown back to the United States via Houston and then extradited to Omaha, where he initially faced counts of kidnapping and accessory to a felony. As investigators traced his movements using vehicle data and other digital evidence, a search south of Topeka led to a shallow grave discovered on December 21, 2022. Kansas authorities confirmed the remains were Allen s shortly thereafter. The Douglas County Attorney subsequently added charges, including first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and tampering with evidence.
In 2024, jurors heard how OnStar data mapped Scott s travel around the dates of the killing and how he lay in wait for Allen after tracking her online. A Douglas County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder; in May 2024, a judge sentenced Scott to life in prison. The case, which began as a missing-person search, closed with a conviction that underscored the dangers of digital stalking and post-breakup control escalating to lethal violence.
