On March 9, 2018, at approximately 2:08 a.m., New Castle County Police responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Malvern Road and Augusta Drive in the Chestnut Hill Estates community of Newark, Delaware. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old William Edward Laws III, a resident of the unit block of Davies Road, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
