On November 17, 2008, 52-year-old Anthony J. Valeriani Jr. was found deceased in his Naples, Maine, home from a gunshot wound to the chest. His estranged wife, Patricia Valeriani, admitted to shooting him during an encounter when she returned to the residence to retrieve personal belongings. The couple had been married for over 20 years and had three adult children. They had been separated since June of that year, with Patricia filing for divorce in October.
