On June 30, 2021, 48-year-old Joel Edwin Williams Jr. was fatally shot during an altercation in Somerville, Maine. The incident occurred between 9:30 and 10 a.m. at a residence on Rockland Road (Route 17), where Williams was staying at the time. Also involved was 31-year-old Kyle Hunt of Jefferson, who sustained injuries during the confrontation and was treated and released from MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
