On January 12, 2023, Berwick, Maine, authorities responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the head at a residence on Katabel Lane. The victim, 37-year-old Mark Forest, was found severely injured and transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy confirmed that Forest's death was a homicide.
