On a cold January evening in Billings, Montana, the life of 15-year-old Khoen Robert Parker, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short. The events of January 16, 2022, unfolded in a parking lot near Castle Rock Park, where two groups of teenagers and young adults had gathered to settle a dispute reportedly over clothing. The disagreement escalated, leading to a physical fight and the discharge of firearms.
It was during this chaos that Khoen was struck in the chest by a 9mm bullet that had ricocheted off the asphalt.
For months following the shooting, Khoen's family and friends were left without answers as the investigation continued. The lack of arrests brought frustration and a sense of hopelessness to those mourning the loss of the fun-loving teen who was known for his passion for scootering at the local skate park. As a sophomore at Senior High School, Khoen was remembered as a kind and outgoing individual who was friends with everyone and always sought excitement in life.
Eventually, the investigation led to the arrest of five individuals in connection with Khoen's death. The primary suspect, 16-year-old Andy Jack Gussing, was identified as the individual who fired the shot that fatally wounded Khoen. He was subsequently charged with negligent homicide. In August of 2023, Gussing was sentenced to a juvenile facility for his role in the incident.
Three other teenagers, 16-year-old Ellie Graham, 18-year-old Jesse Myers, and 18-year-old Gerald Brady, faced charges including felony obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. Additionally, Ellie Graham's mother, 36-year-old Jewel Graham, was accused of obstructing justice for allegedly withholding her daughter's phone from the police. The arrests brought a sense of relief and a step toward justice for Khoen's loved ones, who had endured a painful wait for accountability.
