In the quiet city of Idaho Falls, a tragedy unfolded on February 27, 2020, ending the life of 50-year-old Hispanic female, Rosaura "Rosi" Murillo Arreola. The events of that day were set in motion when police dispatchers received a concerning call about a conversation with a man residing on Wintergreen Avenue. This prompted officers to respond to the home for a welfare check.
Upon their arrival, authorities made several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with anyone inside the
residence. The lack of response led to the involvement of the Idaho Falls Police SWAT team. Once inside, they made a grim discovery. Two individuals, a man and a woman, were found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The deceased were identified as Rosaura Murillo and 60-year-old Alejandro Hernandez. Investigators believe the incident was a murder-suicide, with evidence suggesting that Hernandez, who was described as Murillo's domestic partner, shot her before turning the gun on himself. Two firearms were recovered from the home, one of which had been fired twice.
Authorities assured the public that there was no ongoing danger to the community following the incident. The investigation concluded that Murillo and Hernandez were the only individuals present in the home at the time of their deaths. Rosaura, who was born in El Olvido, Michoacan, Mexico, was survived by her three children.
