On a late Tuesday evening in August 2022, the life of John Carl Walker, a 48-year-old Caucasian male from Chubbuck, Idaho, was tragically cut short. The events unfolded at the Extended Stay hotel in Chubbuck, located at 291 W. Burnside, where police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 11:26 p.m. on August 30th. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that Walker had sustained a gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of police, Chubbuck EMS, and Bannock County Ambulance personnel who were on the scene, John Carl Walker succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hotel.
The investigation into the shooting began immediately, with law enforcement working through the early morning hours to piece together the circumstances of Walker's death. Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a person of interest. By approximately 8:30 a.m. the following morning, this individual was detained at the same Extended Stay hotel and taken in for questioning. The collaborative work of the Chubbuck Police Department, Pocatello Police Department, and the Bannock County Sheriff's Office was instrumental in the swift identification and detention of the potential suspect.
The person of interest was later identified as 31-year-old Teshombee Qamayne Lang. On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 31, Lang was booked into the Bannock County Detention Facility. He faced charges of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the death of John Carl Walker. In addition to these charges, Lang also had an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. The Bannock County Coroner's Office officially confirmed the victim's identity as John Carl Walker of Chubbuck and notified his next of kin. The incident remained under investigation by the Chubbuck Police Department.
