In the quiet city of Nampa, Idaho, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of October 28, 2022. Nathan Scott Herbert, a 51-year-old Caucasian male from the nearby city of Caldwell, was fatally shot following a dispute. The incident, which has been ruled a homicide, unfolded around 10:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of Stamm Lane.
According to reports from the Nampa Police Department, the shooting was preceded by an altercation between Herbert and another man.
The two individuals were known to each other, suggesting the conflict was not a random act of violence. In a surprising turn of events, one of the two 911 calls that brought police to the scene was from the alleged shooter himself. A witness who heard the sound of multiple gunshots also alerted the authorities.
Upon their arrival, emergency crews discovered Herbert with multiple gunshot wounds. They immediately began life-saving measures before he was rushed to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Despite their efforts, Nathan Herbert succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m., less than an hour after the shooting. The Ada County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was the result of the gunshot wounds.
The man identified by police as the alleged shooter has been interviewed by investigators.
