In the winter of 1987, a wave of violence shattered the quiet of Nashua, New Hampshire, leaving a trail of death and questions. On December 30th, Richard Proulx, a 41-year-old male from Lawrence, Massachusetts, found himself tragically caught in this whirlwind. His life was cut short in a Nashua apartment, one of several victims in a shooting spree that spanned two southern New Hampshire towns.
The day's chaotic events were set in motion by a single individual, 38-year-old Rafael Rodriguez, whose violent actions appeared to be without a clear motive or connection to those he targeted.
The rampage began in Nashua where Rodriguez first killed 22-year-old Jesus Santos in a separate apartment before taking the life of Richard Proulx. The violence then moved to a warehouse in the neighboring town of Londonderry, where Rodriguez shot and killed 49-year-old Nicarno Rodriquez and wounded 32-year-old Julio Otero Rivera. The perpetrator then returned to Nashua, continuing his senseless attacks by shooting and injuring 20-year-old Jose Soto.
The deadly spree finally came to an end at a gas station in Nashua.
