A man is found strangled to death at a Motel 6 in Nashua In the spring of 2009, John R. Wiegmann, a 59-year-old Caucasian male, had recently moved back to the Nashua, New Hampshire area. Having spent time living in Utah, Las Vegas, California, and Arizona, he returned to be closer to his family. For several days in early May, he had been staying at the Motel 6 on Progress Avenue. On the evening of Saturday, May 2, 2009, he visited several local restaurants and bars.
He was seen wearing a green t-shirt, jeans, a brown windbreaker-style jacket, and was using a cane.
Later that evening, between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m., Wiegmann was seen getting into a green minivan at the motel. A distinguishing feature of this van was a sunspot, three to four inches in diameter, on the passenger's side front fender, just in front of the mirror. This was the last time he was reported seen alive. The following day, Sunday, May 3, 2009, John R. Wiegmann was found deceased inside his motel room. An investigation determined that he had been strangled to death.
More than a decade has passed, and the murder of John Wiegmann remains unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. The case is now considered a cold case, one of several in Nashua. His family has publicly pleaded for information, expressing the difficulty of healing without knowing who was responsible. Law enforcement continues to ask for anyone with information regarding the case or the green minivan to come forward, but justice for John Wiegmann has yet to be found.
