Michael Briggs, a 35-year-old police officer with the Manchester Police Department in New Hampshire, was fatally shot in the line of duty on October 16, 2006. He and his partner were responding to a domestic disturbance call on Lake Avenue in the early morning hours. The officers were on bicycle patrol and encountered a suspect in an alleyway.
