Markus Austin, a 33-year-old resident of Montpelier, Vermont, was tragically shot and killed in the early morning hours of January 22, 2017. His death marked the first homicide in the state capital in nearly a century. Austin, a Vermont state employee and former professional basketball player, was found in the parking lot of his apartment building on Barre Street.
