In the small, rural community of Newport Town, Vermont, just a mile from the Canadian border, the quiet of a Saturday evening was shattered. On October 14, 2023, a 27-year-old Hispanic male named Wilmer Rodriguez, from Hartford, Connecticut, was found dead inside a residence on Farrar Road. Authorities received a call around 6:45 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot. When Vermont State Police arrived at the scene, they discovered Rodriguez's body.
