In the small, rural community of Newport Town, Vermont, just a mile from the Canadian border, the quiet of a Saturday evening was shattered. On October 14, 2023, a 27-year-old Hispanic male named Wilmer Rodriguez, from Hartford, Connecticut, was found dead inside a residence on Farrar Road. Authorities received a call around 6:45 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot.
When Vermont State Police arrived at the scene, they discovered Rodriguez's body.
An autopsy later conducted by the Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the violent nature of his death.
