Kevin Atkins, 38, was killed in a shooting incident in Newport, Vermont on May 4, 2020. The incident occurred at a home on School Street where Atkins resided with his wife, Nicole Atkins, and her parents.

The perpetrator was identified as Paul Brown, 51, Nicole Atkins' stepfather and Kevin Atkins' father-in-law. Brown shot both Kevin and Nicole Atkins before fatally shooting himself. Nicole Atkins survived the attack and was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
