In the quiet community of South Hero, Vermont, the life of Andrew “Drew” Lalumiere, a 35-year-old White/Caucasian male, was brought to a tragic and unexpected end on May 9, 2024. The grim discovery was made around 11:30 a.m. on a property located on Kibbe Farm Road, where two bodies were found, setting in motion an investigation that would unveil a familial tragedy.
An autopsy later confirmed that Andrew Lalumiere died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. The investigation by the Vermont State Police soon identified the perpetrator as his 68-year-old uncle, John Lalumiere. It was determined that John Lalumiere had fatally shot his nephew before using the same handgun to take his own life. Both men lived in separate homes on the same property where the incident occurred.
The motive behind this shocking murder-suicide remains under investigation by authorities, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden loss. Following a thorough investigation, the Vermont State Police presented their findings to the Grand Isle County State's Attorney, who concluded that it was clearly a murder-suicide.
