On November 25, 2017, 20-year-old Marcelino "Charlie" DeBarros was fatally shot in his Pawtucket, Rhode Island, apartment. DeBarros, an accomplished amateur boxer and Tolman High School graduate, was known for his dedication to the sport and his involvement with the Big Six Boxing Academy in Providence. He had aspirations of turning professional and was recognized for mentoring younger boxers.
