On March 16, 2022, 40-year-old Sherbert "Berry" Maddox was fatally shot in the chest by her boyfriend, Nathan Cooper, inside his apartment on Parkis Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island. Following the shooting, Cooper wrapped Maddox's body in several layers of plastic wrap and bedding, then concealed it inside a refrigerator that he had moved from the kitchen to his bedroom and secured with a cord.
