In the spring of 2022, the life of Sherbert M. Maddox, a 40-year-old Black/African American woman from Providence, Rhode Island, was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as "Strawberry," she was a beloved mother, daughter, and sister. Her death, which occurred on or around March 20, 2022, was the result of a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. The grim details of her death would later emerge, revealing a story of domestic violence that ended in a horrific act of concealment.
