On December 2, 2014, the life of 50-year-old Pamela Donahue, a White female, was tragically cut short in her Providence, Rhode Island apartment. What was initially reported as a potential overdose took a dark turn when emergency personnel discovered a small gunshot wound to her upper chest. Donahue was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival, launching a homicide investigation into her untimely death.
The focus of the investigation quickly turned to Donahue's girlfriend, Sendra J. Beauregard. A roommate who lived with the couple informed investigators that they had been arguing incessantly for two weeks leading up to the homicide. This information, coupled with other evidence, pointed towards a volatile domestic situation. Beauregard was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of Pamela Donahue.
During the trial, a narrative of the evening of December 2nd emerged. A witness, who was with Donahue and Beauregard at the apartment, testified that Beauregard had given him money to go to a nearby convenience store. As the witness left the store, he saw Beauregard driving away from the area. Upon returning to the apartment, he found Donahue unresponsive and called for help, believing she had overdosed.
The prosecution presented compelling evidence against Beauregard. A search of her cell phone records uncovered numerous hostile and threatening text messages sent to Donahue in the days before the murder. Furthermore, a spent shell casing discovered in Beauregard's vehicle was matched to a. 38 Derringer pistol that was later recovered from a wooded area. Ballistics testing confirmed that this was the weapon used to kill Pamela Donahue. After a six-day trial and three days of deliberation, a jury found Sendra Beauregard guilty of murder and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death. She was subsequently sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the murder of her girlfriend.
