On June 26, 1975, FBI Special Agents Jack R. Coler and Ronald A. Williams were on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, attempting to serve arrest warrants for robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. While pursuing a vehicle matching the suspect's description, they came under heavy gunfire near the Jumping Bull property.
