In the small, close-knit community of Platte, South Dakota, 14-year-old Connor Egan Westerhuis, a White male, was known for his polite and considerate nature. An eighth-grade student at Platte-Geddes Community School, he was the quarterback for the junior high football team and also excelled in basketball, baseball, and track. Connor, born on March 17, 2001, to Scott and Nicole Westerhuis, was an active member of the First Reformed Church and was remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
