On December 27, 2016, 19-year-old Julio Joseph Bald Eagle from Rapid City, South Dakota, was fatally shot by an Oglala Sioux Tribal Police officer in Kyle, South Dakota. The officer reported that during the encounter, Julio pulled a gun on him, leading to the shooting.
