Brian Gerard Garrett, 52, a man from Kyle, South Dakota and a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, was killed in the predawn hours of February 10, 2018, when a gunshot shattered the quiet inside his home on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Investigators described it as a domestic dispute that turned lethal around 4:30 a.m., drawing tribal and federal attention almost immediately.
