On February 5, 2022, 17-year-old Shayna Youngman Afraid of His Horses was found deceased on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She had been reported missing after last being seen on February 3 at a residence in the Fraggle Rock area. Her remains were discovered north of Manderson, leading authorities to investigate her death as a homicide.
