On August 20, 2023, 19-year-old Ashton Raine Provost was fatally shot near Porcupine, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. At the time of her death, Ashton was pregnant and the mother of a two-year-old daughter, Brealla. Her parents, Casey Provost Sr. and Lorilei Janis, now have full custody of Brealla.
