On August 7, 2017, in Powell, Wyoming, 64-year-old Mary Ann Bier was fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide. Authorities believe that her longtime partner, 74-year-old John Charles Bright, shot Bier in the back of the head before turning the gun on himself. Both individuals were found with gunshot wounds at their shared residence on Jonathon Road and were transported to Powell Valley Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
