Do you know who murdered George Tretikoff? Native American/Indigenous male George Tretikoff, age 63, was found dead alongside another victim just after noon on October 31, 2020, inside a Fairview apartment in the 500 block of East 15th Avenue in Anchorage. Police were called at 12:01 p.m., and responding officers discovered two adults deceased in the residence; the medical examiner was tasked with determining the cause of death as detectives and the crime scene team worked the home for hours.
In the days that followed, investigators with the Anchorage Police Department's Homicide Unit developed a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. On December 30, 2020, members of APD's Investigative Support Unit located the suspect, took him into custody, and transported him to jail for questioning. Authorities publicly identified him as 26-year-old Christopher Ligons, noting that he faced multiple counts of first- and second-degree murder connected to the killings in the Fairview apartment.
On January 29, 2021, an Anchorage grand jury indicted Christopher Ligons for killing George Tretikoff and the second victim, listing two counts of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree, and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Officials stated that, if convicted, the murder counts each carried potential sentences of up to 99 years and the tampering charge up to 5 years. At that time, Ligons was in Department of Corrections custody pending arraignment in Superior Court. No additional suspects were announced.
