Cherell Keamo, a 36-year-old Native Hawaiian woman from Waiʻanae, was at a family gathering on Waianae Valley Road on the night of August 31, 2024, when a long-simmering feud next door turned into a sudden, chaotic burst of violence. People had been trying to enjoy the evening, but the conflict that had shadowed the neighborhood for years—complaints about loud events, traffic, and what residents described as an ongoing nuisance—was already in the air, waiting for the smallest spark.
