On November 21, 1975, 28-year-old Patricia Hitt, a mother of two, was working as a gas station clerk in Mobile County, Alabama. That day, she was approached by Thomas Warren Whisenhant, who brutally beat her before fatally shooting her in the head. Initially, two other men were arrested for the crime, but they were later exonerated.
