Sheriff Lelon D. "Red" Sizemore, a 62-year-old law enforcement officer from Geneva, Alabama, met his untimely death on August 3, 1977. On this day, Sheriff Sizemore was performing his duties when he encountered an intoxicated individual who was causing a disturbance and threatening a woman.
