In the late summer of 1977, the community of Geneva, Alabama, was shaken by the loss of its dedicated Sheriff, Lelon D. 'Red' Sizemore. A 62-year-old man, Sizemore had committed 28 years of his life to law enforcement, serving the last six as the esteemed Sheriff of Geneva County. On the evening of August 3rd, what began as a response to a domestic disturbance call would tragically escalate, ending a long and respected career in public service.
