J.C. Woodham, a 48-year-old sheriff from Geneva, Alabama, tragically lost his life on August 7, 1957. He succumbed to gunshot wounds that he had sustained three days prior to his death. The incident occurred when Sheriff Woodham stopped two suspects who had stolen narcotics from a local hospital.
