Death by Force

On May 25, 1986, Deputy Sheriff Leonard Wilbur Brand of the Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Department in Alabama was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call. Accompanied by another deputy, Brand encountered the suspect, who opened fire with a 12-gauge shotgun, resulting in Brand's death and wounding his colleague. The assailant later committed suicide on the same day.
