In the early hours of a summer morning in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck 30-year-old Jameel Bilal, a Black male. On Sunday, August 12, 2007, at approximately 12:26 a.m., Bilal was inside a residence at 2502 Pomeroy Road, SE, when he was fatally shot. The Metropolitan Police Department swiftly responded to the scene, beginning an investigation into the violent incident that had claimed a life.
The case was taken on by the department's Violent Crimes Branch, with detectives working to piece together the events that led to the shooting. Despite their efforts, the motive behind the homicide and the circumstances surrounding it remained elusive.
The investigation has continued over the years, but a breakthrough leading to an arrest has not been made.
