On June 28, 2015, in McCalla, Alabama, 49-year-old Doris Hutcheson and her two children, 14-year-old Kimberly and 12-year-old Peyton, were found fatally shot in their home. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office discovered their bodies after concerned family members requested a welfare check, as they had not heard from the family since the previous Friday. Upon forced entry into the residence, deputies found each victim in a separate room, all deceased from gunshot wounds.
